Academic Achievements

By July of 2012, fifty-two projects have been conducted under the sponsorship of governmental or non-governmental organizations including the National Science Council, Industrial Development Bureau, Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, and Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange and so on.  Additionally, Eighteen conferences have been held from 1997 to 2012.  Various forums are also held routinely as the platform not only for practical dialogues but also for theoretical explorations.  Selected publications and conferences are listed as follows:

International Conference on Business Transformation and Social Change in East Asia

This conference aims to examine the developmental paths and corresponding strategies from enterprises.  It has been held for three times by both the Institute of East Asian Societies and Economies and Sociology Department of Tunghai University.


New Map, New Route
the Opportunities and Challenges of North Asia(2000-)

The purpose of this conference is to survey the developmental condition of North Asia which features the new structural transformation triggered by the rise of China and the economic changes of East Asia as well as the world.  Critical issues about America, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were discussed and debated enthusiastically in this conference.

Conference on Finance, Techniques and Societies
(2002-)

Research on Financial Sociology in Taiwan is relatively scarce, this conference was unveiled in 2002 on an annual basis by the Institute of East Asian Societies and Economies, the Center for Sociological Research and Development Studies of China and the Department of Sociology of Peking University.

East Asia Forum
(2009-)

The forum, held on a monthly basis since 2009 and open to the pubic who are interested in the current development of East Asia, is designed to build a platform for article submission and research sharing.  Professor Kao plays a key role by giving a routine presentation about his observations and thoughts on the current development of East Asia.

Centurial Business Study Group and Asia Fortune Management Forum
(2009-)

These two activities, held on a monthly basis by both the Institute of East Asian Societies and Economies and Wen Sheng International Financial Consulting Company Limited, aim to connect the entrepreneurs and the scholars for dialogues of financial management coupled with practical experiences.
